This website serves as a platform for networking and knowledge exchange, providing resources and insights into the latest developments in plant in vitro technologies.
The website is hosted by Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and curated by our group Plant Evolution and Biodiversity belonging to the Institute of Biology.
Our research group specializes in in vitro somatic embryogenesis, with a primary focus on conifer species. We are experts working with tissue culture of Larch, Douglas fir and fir. Furthermore, we focus on cryopreservation and long-term storage of embryogenic cultures important for our collaborating partners in forestry and tree nurseries. We are interested in identifying genes playing an important role in somatic embryogenesis initiation, the creation of superior genotypes regarding environmental stressors like drought, as well as gaining insight into early plant development. Our lab is located at the beautiful Späth-Arboretum Berlin.
As founding members of the PInK-net, we are committed to advancing research, fostering collaboration, and sharing knowledge within the German scientific in vitro plant biotechnology community.
Furthermore, we are part of the European Network for Innovative Woody Plant Cloning CopyTree (COST action CA21157).
